The Province of Manitoba has substantial influence on the management of the lake front of Lake Winnipeg. Through various departments such as Water Stewardship and Conservation the Province of Manitoba monitors lake levels, lake water quality, and associated fisheries, forestry and parks. The main focus of the government of the Province of  Manitoba is to manage the lake and associated environments for future generations.

Manitoba Water Stewardship provides leadership in environmental stewardship for the benefit of current and future generations of Manitobans so the social, economic and inherent environmental value of water is protected and realized.

Manitoba Conservation is responsible for stewardship of Manitoba’s environment, fisheries, forests, parks, water and wildlife and are committed to delivering programs and services that preserve and protect our environment today, and for future generations.
